Google Search Console Removes Generic Rich Results Search Appearance
May 26, 2021 12:57:23 AM
Google announced that the generic rich results search appearance will be removed from the Search Console performance reports. This doesn't mean Google is removing the rich results reports from the Search Console. Google is just removing a specific filter that combines all rich results into one view.
Combining all rich results data into one view is not an optimal solution for the site owners. But it was the only solution at that time.
Now, the site owner can get 19 search appearance types in the Search Console performance reports. Here is the list:
- AMP on image result
- AMP non-rich results
- AMP article
- Android App
- FAQ rich results
- How-to rich results
- Job details
- Job listing
- Practice Problems
- Product results
- Q&A rich results
- Recipe rich result
- Recipe Gallery
- Review snippet
- Special Announcement
- Web Light results
- Web Story

In conclusion, removing the generic rich results from the performance reports doesn't affect the site's traffic in any way; it's just a reporting change to help site owners get the important metrics about how their sites perform in Google Search results.
Google will continue to support generic rich results reports until August 1, 2021.
