As the effects of the Coronavirus situation, Google has noticed that there is a big need from retail and brand manufacturing partners about the ability of getting more insights on how the consumer’s interests are changing during the COVID-19 pandemic – Google can easily get the consumer’s interests and see the trends through the search behavior of those consumers.
Last month, Google noticed through the consumer’s search behavior that there was a huge interest for the household supplies and jigsaw puzzles as people spent more time at home. This month, the consumer’s search interests were changed to be sewing machines and baking materials in the U.S., and tetherball sets and chalk in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Businesses and marketers are using different tools such as Google Trends, surveys, social listening, and their own data in order to understand the consumer’s interests. But if they don’t know what to look for, they will encounter difficulties to understand the trends. Because of this, Google has launched a rising retail categories tool on Think with Google.
With this tool, you can easily know what’s trending, in addition to understanding rising consumer interests. Currently, this tool only surfaces data for searches in the US, UK, and Australia.
